Just got off the phone with a man who has Always been there for me in times of good n bad, he has helped guide me through life and i am lucky to call him a friend.
We talked for about 30min & i gave him the full report on how the fishing was down here in the keys, he told me a few jokes & asked about some of our old friends. I told him i wanted to get him out on the boat before he turned 90 to catch another fish together & hopefully we can make that happen. Happy Birthday old friend.......

I am happy to report my client John from California hooked the first Tarpon of the 2014 Season, i estimate the fish to be in the 75lb range. Last year during these same dates the weather was much better & he caught the first one of my 2013 season. We hooked this years fish in gin clear water & from the looks of things we were in for a long battle, but then the fly fell out! That's Tarpon Fly Fishin! Over the last 3 days we have put the fly in front of a few fish that just didint want anything to do with us, the weather has not been perfect with lots of wind & clouds. Looks like the weather is going to be better next week & i have 2 days open if your looking for a trip give me a call 305-393-3327
If your in the Keys over the weekend come by & visit me at Plantation Boat Mart for Destination Plantation you can take a test ride on any of the boats from the 24 SeaHunter i run to the 45 SeaHunter i wish i had & all the HydraSports Custom boats will be there in the water as well. I spent a week at the Miami Boat Show & its great to be back on the h20, yesterday we found a few tarpon but could not get them to eat a fly. Today the red-fishing was tough in the 20mph winds we made a few good casts but no luck. We had numerous good shots & i am sure with a live shrimp we would have caught a few.
Check out the gear i used today & get prepared for your next adventure . |
