The wind has steady here in Islamorada, we have been fly fishing for the last week and conditions have been tough, but we have had some great days on the H20. We had strange opportunity this week, i was poling down a flat in cloudy conditions when we saw a fish in the distance. As we got into casting range we saw this Goliath Grouper i estimate at about 150lbs, my clients son was on the bow & cast at the monster a few times but it didint eat the fly. I don't know what we would have done if it had but i would have loved to find out.

It's been blowing 20+MPH for the last week & tough conditions for Tarpon Fly Fishing, but my client got one today, I was so shocked to see that fish rise up off the bottom & open his big mouth after a few days of lockjaw. Not the largest fish of the season but any day you can get a tarpon to eat the fly is a great day in my book!
I just spoke to the gang at Pro Guide Direct & here is a code to save you a few $$$. Pro Guide Direct is having a Memorial Day Sale, and you can use coupon code "SHIP4FREE" during checkout. The fishing has been tough the last week in Islamorada. Small Craft Advisories have been the norm most days with winds 15-20mph. I managed to catch a few Tarpon but its been a struggle, the best part of the week was hanging out with old friends. Carter Andrews & I got to fish for a day before he headed to Key West to film an episode of his new fishing show ( check out The Obsession of Carter Andrews this season) & last night while out to dinner with a family i have been fishing with for years we ran into Tred Barta. Kelly & Noah were in town from Maine for their Wedding, & as a surprise wedding gift her husband booked an afternoon charter with me. We were fishing live mullet on a circle hooks during the outgoing tide, i am happy to report she caught her first Tarpon as did her sister.
